Episode 6: Taxman
Johnny Marr and John Porter help Billy find a slicker style of production in the studio as he writes and records the material for Talking With The Taxman About Poetry. The peerless Kirsty MacColl, who had already scored a hit with a pop version of A New England, contributes backing vocals. And a song called Levi Stubbs’ Tears establishes Billy’s versatility as a songwriter.
The songs on these podcasts feature on the Billy Bragg Volume 1 boxed set, available from the Billy Bragg Shop here.

I’m sorry to ask a rather unrelated question but I’m wondering Bill if you have any other songs like There is power in a union I love this song. I would really love to hear some if so. Also do you do a political podcast? Thats how I heard the song in the first place. Anyhow I hope you stop by Ann Arbor or Ypsilanti Michigan sometime soon I’d like to check out your show .
