The Pope Is Leaving Australia Today..Even though i dont believe in the church..I do believe in god and believe god loves us all..gay,every race and sex before marriage..i believe god doesnt discriminate..

After watching the world youth day Celebrations on TV..I think its fucking awesome that in these times the belief in god is still playing a big part in this world..Gezz the pope draws a bigger crowd then any rock concert..there was 500,000 pilgrims in attendence..Wow..Huge and good too see. cool.gif

GW Bush's god or Bin Laden's?

Me Personally i think no god is bad its peoples inturpretation of what god is..I honestly think that god would not discriminate against gays..or races..but for many years now people have inturpreted religion incorrectly.

no sex before marriage and so on..i wonder how many of the 500,000 youth were actual virgins before marriage.and pledge of a legence under God should never be said.

here in oz it was the catholic pope visiting..it was hugfe and good to see even if i dont believe in the churches religion.i do believe in god. cool.gif

I was damn proud when the pope visited Holland and the crowd was 10.000 "strong".
I struggle with my religious beliefs, but am a firm believer that the catcholic church as an institute is not a force for good.

Sorry, but I really don't see what there is "to be proud of" about people gathering for the Pope?

Whatever your beliefs are, if you're a bit constistent, I don't really understand how you can be happy that so many young people gather to hear about how abortion is a crime, condoms are responsible for aids and other bullshit like that.

I don't want to play the devil's advocate, but how can you say that you don't believe that "the catholic church as an institute is not a force for good" and then "be proud" that its leader is worshipped in such a way?

Every time I hear the Pope, it makes me frightened and angry. Frightened that we are going back to the dark ages before the Enlightement, the French Revolution, 68 and all that. Angry that we still have to fight for stuff that should be now accepted and, most of all, angry of the destructive influence of the church in places like Africa with regard to birth control and aids.

10.000 people came Domino. They expected 250.000 or somewhere in that region, but no one came, only some old folks smile.gif This was in the 80s, lots of old people died since then so I'm guessing the crowd would be even smaller nowadays wink.gif
I'm very happy to live in one of the most secular societies on the planet.

I misunderstood, I'm sorry.

I don't remember the exact number but way too many young people gathered when the Pope came to Paris in 1997. (However, much less than in 1998, when France won the world cup...)

I'm also very very happy to live in a secular country... there aren't that many in the world...

What was the global footprint involved in telling the Australian youth that contraception is wrong, whilst apologising for the child sex abuse at the hands of the Catholic Clergy?
