On a very serious note this is a major issue. It completely undermines sverything the US is supposed to stand for. It is utterly undefensible. You reap what you sow. I believe that some of the most oppressive regimes received training from the US military and then they condemn them for using it.
I have just emailed a congressman friend about it who is a pretty decent guy anyway so thank you for the post. Americans are accutely conscious of what British people think of them. They can get nasty about it if you attack them, but underneath it really hurts them that this sort of thing is how the rest of the world sees them and they know it undermines their foreign policy. As does training CIA operatives to undermine regimes who then turn against them.
