Just heard on the radio that the ECB have already booked Trafalgar Square for a 'victory parade'
I do wish that they wouldn't do such things, it makes me nervous
SallyA
Sep 6 2005, 08:50 AM
me too...
... oh well - I suppose if we don't need it the aussies could take the booking
there's more than enough of their home supporters round central london to fill Trafalgar Sq..

You're thinking of earls court
SallyA
Sep 7 2005, 05:53 PM
no, I know that's where they
live but I've met some quite advanced ones that can use public transport and everything

- and I'm sure there are enough of them to fill trafalgar sq....
....unless you meant earl's court's not central london?? In which case I suppose I'd have to agree - but personally I never managed to live closer in than zone 4 and now I'm 60 miles away - so it feels pretty central to me...

I'm very very nervous about it all. And sadly have a bad feeling about tomorrow. (Australia bat and 284 for 3 at close of play tomorrow I predict) And I am in court at 10 tomorrow morning, so won't know nothing until we adjourn for lunch. England losing tonight hasn't helped.

Sep 8 2005, 09:43 AM
Siobhan - I'm really pleased already that your prediction was wrong.
We won the toss and we bat first.
And Marcus has already tonked Lee for a four.
I've told you before - positive things happen to positive people - non of that English negativity today please (or for the next 5 days if possible!!)

This is the first time England have got the chance to win the Ashes in years and years. Seriously, if we manage this, its going to be huge!
And from a 19 year olds perspective - there are some really fit players to cheer for!

Anyone else watching the C4 coverage just after 2 and before they switched to the horseracing? what happened to richies voice

- seemed to go all echoey like it was being pumped out of the PA system and reverbing back through the mics in the field... some sort of sneaky attempt to disconcert the ozzies by playing the sound of the bowler running up at them from all angles or what
Sarah lady
Sep 9 2005, 03:48 PM
Don't know - I've only got t'internet and occasionally the ickle telly in accounts.
I'm going to be doing my rain dance for the rest of the test - that'll do boys!!

Not looking good at the moment.
Play.com are advertising a 3 disc DVD of the series for £15.99, though you may wish to see what happens this afternoon before ordering it.
I think we are going to end up about 50-75 runs short. Runs that should have been scored in the first innings.
I'll be vexed beyond belief if the bastards square this after being outplayed for 3 and a half of the 5 tests.

He was interviewed at 6:15 by the Today programme and described as 'last man standing'. That may have a bearing on his appearance at the parade.

I know Mo - I do think it sucks that they don't take it to the other counties - seeing as three of the tests were done outside of London and very few of the players these days play for Surrey or Middlesex.
Perhaps at the beginning of next season they'll do something.
I loved the interview with Freddie - the poor boy was so drunk and tired he could hardly keep it together.
My brother has some great pics from Tragfalgar Square - I really wish I'd been there!

Moster - I am so so impressed and I think you are almost spot on - the one you're forgetting is of course Chris Smith, Robin's brother.
Also in the squad was Tim Tremlett, father of Chris Tremlett.
That has taken me back... aaahhhh!
