I've just made myself a compilation of 17 of my most treasured 'Carter' songs.A best of if you like.

In my opinion ,one of the most under-rated bands of all time. They created a genre all to themselves [Beatbox punk] .The results were electric. Combining both humorous, inventive, and controversial left wing comment in their lyrics, which was easily a match of the quality of BB's output.(and that saying something).

If anyone fancies a free copy of this compilation, please PM me your address and i'll pop one in the post for you.If you love Billy you'll love Carter USM.

Of course songs of the 'Singles' will feature prominently .Basically the differences from the 'singles' album ,is that i've left off the four weakest singles and added six very strong album tracks.

Nevski. This thread reminded me of something.!.... I don't know why i wrote pages and pages on the subject of public transport last month. The Carter song 'Twenty four minutes from Tulse Hill' sums up my feelings perfectly on why i'm not a great fan of that sort of traveling. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I never "got" Carter. Decided there wasn't much about them to "get". Surprising really when you look at what else is in my music collection. My main memory of them was that they were terribly bland.

One of my first big gigs was Carter at the Brixton academy around 91. Really great concert. After that, me and my mates used to go see them live quite a lot. We'd always try to sneek into the backstage party - they were very tollerant of a bunch of annoying 16/17 year olds drinking the free beer - good blokes.

Anyone know what Jon 'fat bastard' Beast is doing now?

I haven't seen him in years but I have heard very recently from some of his old muckers.

Yeah Top Man, agrees Dickie desperately resisting the urge to take a public stroll down memory lane to the best days of his life… 'Hype' at the Bull and Gate, Sex, drugs, more sex, more drugs, even more sex, even more drugs with a pinch of rock 'n' roll egotism for taste. Carter's great forte was the ending of songs. The final 90 seconds of the songs Lean On Me i won't fall over / The Only Living Boy In New Cross and After The Watershed are some of the greatest bursts of music i've ever heard.

Play the ending of those songs at full volume and tell me you disagree?
