Ok I guess as Toby just gave the official info about the support act for the tour, I thought perhaps some of you like to know who she is, because as I am informed Jill never released an album in the Uk. Please don't see this as a cheap promotion, I just want to inform you guys.
Perhaps you rember the song "I Kissed A Girl".
That's her. She is a singer/songwriter from New York. Also a great guitar player. Perhaps some of you know Lloyd Cole. She was in his band called "The Negatives".
If you want to listen to some of her music here are some links where you can download her songs:
A lot of free downloads there. For a start download those songs:

The Jig Is Up

Jetpag

And for a cover Version:
Survivor
The whole list you can find here:
Jillmedia
Or go to her official Website and to the download section to hear newer stuff:
Jillsobule.com
Finally I have to say I am just into Billys music since I knew about Jill supporting him. But I found out I love his songs and have bought the essential collection and the english, half english album. So I hope you like Jill the way I like Billy. Have fun!

Jill Sobule was one of the artists on the Tell Us The Truth Tour in the USA last November. I've heard about 5 of those shows and Jill is a very witty, funny songwriter. I'm looking forward to seeing her live (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

She is wonderful. I saw her in TUTT in New York and loved her. Don't judge her by "I kissed a girl", she's much better than her "hit".

And I guess we have to keep an open mind about her working with Lloyd Cole too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

That is true. Well IKAG isn't all that bad and she did ironic songs about Bush long before he was "sort of" elected president. So good to see that some of you like her (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif). WOW only one week until I see 'em both. Wonder if they doing a duett somewhere during the show. BTW Leontien what's wrong with Lloyd Cole

I'm a big fan of War Correspondent in Love and the one about Kathy Lee Gifford being her secret lover (shortly after Condaleeza Rice!)

I'm really looking forward to seeing her live again but its a shame that Paul Kelly won't be there as I wanted to see him live too - boo!

Jill Sobule is rather good. To say the least. Wonderful, actually, and if you miss her later on this tour when you already have tickets…

… don’t say you weren’t warned.

And a very lovely lady she is too - if you go and buy her CD after she's played - she'll probably be there to sign it for you!

I'm her newest "biggest" fan!
After Maria who chatted to her for ages in Amsterdam.

Bought Pink Pearl which she signed.
Spent most of today downloading live tracks and bootlegs from http://www.jillmedia.com/ and finding, much to my delight, a live version of Survivor which she did at the Melkweg.

Just had some sad news though Jill fans...

Twopints, who was a star after the show emptying the fridge of Bills rider, was tipped to be a star forevermore by recording the gig.
He just sent me this...

QUOTE
Oh despair !

The recording did not work - the "TOC" got corrupted and I think I have lost the lot.

I have sent it to a mate who is normally good at this sort of thing - but sadly I think there is no recording at all.

I have an awful cold and have to be up at 3.30 am to go to France so I shall be off to bed soon.

I'll be back in touch if there is any better news,

...which means no "All the young dudes" I fear.

Despite this I'm sure you'll all join with me to wish him a speedy recovery.
Let's hope his mate can pull some kind of audio rabbit out of a minidisc.

I think Leontien got some of that on film, Martyn, but not being very technical I don't know if it's possible to make a boot from film.

Trashing Bill's rider at the Melkweg is one of those events that will go down in history :-)

Bill: "I'm being a really bad host here. Grab a beer"

(Use your imagination)

Seriously though: although Bill 'n' Jill doing "All the Young Dudes" is just wonderful, all of her songs stand by themselves, so don't just see her in this context.

I have merged two of the Jill Sobule threads to try and avoid duplicated messages and confusion. So don't be surprised to find one of them missing from the On The Road - Live Dates forum.

Yeah and you did a great job showing that (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Oh btw I asked Jills Webmaster if he perhaps can upload the "War Correspondent" song again on her webpage. Looked like a lot of people were into that one. And hopefully the Brits will also like it, so they can download it from her page. But looks like the webhamster is busy right now, so we will see about that.

Count me as another Jill fan.

Prior to the TUTT tour my only exposure to her was from the In Their Own Words CD. I *loved* her at TUTT, had a pleasant chat with her after the show, and think I'll go pick up a CD tomorrow (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
